Meta unlocks Trump's Facebook and Instagram accounts
Meta on Thursday lifted the ban on former US President Donald Trump's Facebook and Instagram accounts after an absence of more than two years.
Although the ban has been lifted, Trump has not yet returned to either platform, as he has not yet posted any comment on them.
Trump's reinstatement comes weeks after Facebook announced that it would restore the former president's access to his account, after a two-year ban, following the storming of the Capitol by his supporters on January 6, 2021, according to CNN.
Meta previously said it would take a few weeks before Trump had access to his account.
The company noted that the delay in recalculating was in order to get time to install "guardrails" at Trump's expense that could cause him to be suspended again if he violates the Meta rules again.
