Creating a new technology that extends the phone's battery life to 9 years
Mobile phone battery problems are one of the most common problems faced by most smartphone users, especially in terms of their attempts on how to preserve the battery life of the phone for as long as possible.
Smartphone battery development
In this regard, researchers at the School of Engineering at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Australia (RMIT) have succeeded in creating a new technology to develop smartphone batteries, allowing them to extend their life 3 times the traditional life span, which is estimated at 3 years.
In their new technique, the researchers relied on replacing the material used in the manufacture of battery electrodes with a new material, MXene, which allows rust to be removed after consuming them for long periods through the use of sound waves and return them to their new original state.
Increased battery life
The researchers explained that their new technology will increase the life span of batteries, as it will reach 9 years, and this new technology focuses mainly on the manufacture of maxin by sound waves, instead of relying on the traditional method of manufacturing it, which is based on the use of strong acids such as hydrofluoric acid.
Properties of maxin
MXene has a unique set of properties, including superior electrical conductivity, mechanical properties of transition metals and efficient absorption of electromagnetic waves, which encourages their use in many practical applications.
The idea of the technology was based on the use of sound waves as a low-cost way to get rid of rust on the surface of the maxin, which extends its life span and preserves its properties and ability to retain electrical charges.
Uses of Maxin
The main uses of the maxine are to manufacture the anode electrode, rather than graphite, which helps to provide a large storage capacity for the battery while maintaining little size for its design, due to the high specific density of the maxine.
The MXene also opens the way to a world of long-life batteries due to its superior ability to retain electrical charges well with repeated charge cycles, as batteries that are included in the manufacture of their electrodes can have charge cycles of up to 10000,1000 charge cycles, compared to only <>,<> charge cycles with graphite electrodes.
Battery capacity and life, along with fast charging, are one of the most important features that smartphone users look at when they buy a new phone.
What is battery life?
Battery Lifespan is a term that expresses its ability to hold electrical charges after completing daily charging circuits, along with battery life in daily use.
Types of mobile phone batteries
One of the most famous types of mobile phone batteries is made of (cadmium and nickel) and also made of (lithium ions), and the first type of mobile phone batteries needs less maintenance with a high performance rate, which means that the power of the mobile phone battery can be maintained until it is completely exhausted, while lithium-ion batteries are weaker than cadmium-nickel batteries, which are 33% lighter, and most mobile phone batteries are made of (lithium ions).
